A contemporary family garden

This Berkshire town garden was designed around a fabulous extension that added a modern edge to a classic town house.  The garden needed to reflect the style of the house and family, allowing plenty of space to entertain, relax and for children to play.  Key to the brief were wild areas, open lawns, play spaces, fire-pits, grass borders and good lighting for after-working hour enjoyment of the garden.  Mindful design ensured  the survival of a beautiful ancient apple tree, good use of the height change for seating  and the soft planting and gently curved path invited the visitor to participate and enjoy the garden beyond the main terrace.

Pictured below from concept to build to planting.  We planted in Spring 2020 so returned in Autumn to add over 3000 bulbs to ensure a wonderful display of colour from early Spring to mid Summer.

Of everyone we met, Tania seemed most in tune with our aspirations for improving our garden - creating an outdoor living area that naturally extended the house, provided a play area for our daughter, maximised both the space and existing greenery, introduced plenty of floral colour, and kept maintenance to a minimum. From start to end Tania was able to provide excellent advice and recommendations, dropping by regularly to keep an eye on progress and tweaking the design as we tackled the practicalities of landscaping the outside space.
