A garden to entertain

2019 saw us start work for a client who has such a fine eye for design and detail is a joy.  The family decided to build an annexe in the garden, affording the teenagers the space (that teenagers always seem to need) and creating a great outdoor office area.  The new building would only work if it was inviting and easily accessible.

The brief was to design a garden that brought the buildings and outdoor space together as one fabulous space to eat, entertain and relax.  The planting had to be low maintenance, incorporate a water feature, include herbs for the table and reflect the beautiful interiors of the main house.        

Below please find the before, it's easy to see how it was hard to visualise how the new annexe would integrate without dominating.  The design moved in two directions, one an Italian courtyard approach (which was chosen) and the other inspired by a Fernand Leger work that had always stayed with me.  The garden was installed in 2019 and we're  constantly delighted by the lovely photos the client continues to share with us.
